I would agree entirely with that. I cannot remember a time, not even the Vietnam War, when divisions were this deep. The situation is potentially dangerous. The period leading up to the Civil War probably felt something like this.

Where have you seen reports that this mob mentality has resulted in physical attacks from "BOTH SIDES"? The only ones I see reports of are about anti-Bush fanatics.
