Ahh, maybe Gibson was just being nice. Blogspirator

Gibson whispers sweet nothings to Gephardt post-debate ("It should have been you up there - things would have been different." )

I coulda been a contender!

St Louis Post Dispatch reports...

Favorite son Rep. Richard Gephardt was surrounded nearly everywhere he went by U.S. senators and lawmakers, reporters and former staffers, all wanting to wish him well. A high point of his popularity was evidenced after the debate when ABC newsman and debate moderator Charles Gibson said to Gephardt in a private moment: "It should have been you up there - things would have been different."
This is interesting on several levels.

1) Gibson put to rest the MSM/Dem pundit lie that the debate was either a "tie" or even a slight Kerry win. Hey Charlie, want some wood?

2) Clear evidence that Gibson is rooting for the Democrats. The audience was ostensibly composed of undecideds. Charlie Gibson is an obvious partisan.

In any event, it's not clear that Gephardt could have done any better. While Kerry has had to face down swirling Botox rumors, Gephardt would have to live down the following zot by Dave Barry:

"...Dick Gephardt, who has had over 600 gallons of Rogaine injected into his forehead in a so-far-unsuccessful attempt to grow eyebrows."

Ouch.

Nice dig. The author, Steve Sherman, is a good friend of mine.

Notice the article says...
Barnes and Sherman have been identifying and locating personnel involved in these operations and not heretofore mentioned in the media.

Expect more on that subject.
