Dogmas are created when we use the process of intelligence to assimilate all of the information into a critical overview of the facts. .... Why do facts have to create a conclusion? In the area of politics, it creates paranoid observations that attack anyone in the spotlight.

One fact causes a ripple. Two facts might cause a stir. Three a wavering of public opinion. Four move a few to taking action. Five get debate going vigorously. Six...

Well, you get the picture. When you have only a couple of dots to connect, a trend has not developed. When you have dozens and dozens of factual points to connect, a clear picture emerges.

We are far closer to the clear picture than you seem willing to admit.

Keith's message seems to be "ignore the facts, they will only confuse you. Instead, trust whatever the politicians say."

Sorry, I can't find anything to applaud in that thinking.

Um. As a long time recipient of "facts and logic" lectures from W's true believers, I just got to laugh. If we would all just stick to the official White House line that things are going really, really well in Iraq, I guess we would all be better off, "logically" and otherwise. As far as attacking anyone in the spotlight, that seems to be Karl Rove's main operating principle, if the person in the spotlight happens to be insufficiently obeisant towards W anyway. What do John McCain, Joe Wilson, Richard Clarke, and Paul O'Neill have in common?

Fineman on Imus this morning had bush increasing his lead in the Wash Post poll. Couldnt find it on the Post site and i am not sure whether the bush 5 point lead was likely voters or registered but in either case it was a gain from last week. Incicates to me that bush won last debate. Fineman had a bunch of screw ups he discovered by watching the video tape. Things that play in certain constituencies. He said kerry on domestic issues was where the weakness came from and with weds debate being on domestic issues, this would augur well for bush. The pledge and then hedge of no new taxes for under 200k group, convuluted abortion answer with particular emphasis on his opposition to partial birth abortions seemed to hurt him the most according to fineman. I guess american realize when a guy is 100% pro choice when he cant even oppose partial birth abortions but continues to blather he is catholic and personally pro life. Also they realize that class warfare tax increases for the so-called rich and huge spending increases for a whole bunch of undefined programs will eventually cause kerry to do a bush 41 flip flop which he already started to do a minute after making the pledge. Also there are many 200k folks who are not rich given the cost of housing etc. Those tax increases are recognized by some to be killing the sick goose that is our economy today.
Anyone notice what russert did to edwards over the weekend? He was brutal and edwards faltered. Mike
