The "choices" people had 100 yrs ago regarding their own financial welfare were not taken away from them by a government. Much blood was shed in the workplace and in the streets before goverment--and the boardrooms-- got the message. You seem to want to return to a world in which individuals assume all the risk and accrue the rewards at the expense of others rather than in concert with others. That's devolutionary and not the world I want to live in. nuf said on this topic, eh?
