"... export your favorites to a file" In my Opera browser I just did what IE and Netscape do: - click on browser toolbar Bookmarks - a menue drops down called Manage Bookmarks - now click on File, contained in this Manage Bookmarks - now have many options available --- Open --- New --- Save --- Save As --- Save As HTML --- Import (many varieties) --- Export (many varieties) ok, Now I can do as you mentioned you do but I didn't know that all these possibilities are available. The only oops I just stumbled over was the stuff I just posted about, but didn't realize that I didn't learn what I just learned :o) I made a small new bookmark file and saved it as: Save As HTML But when I opened it via my browser I didn't see the html code, but only the view my browser shows as the final results. Then I remembered my "call to action" using Notepad so that what I deal with is only simple text and not funny stuff that has been dusted with magic powder from Tinket Bell :o) ok, Closed the file and opened it again using Notepad, and now I see all those html text needed to turn it into them hot links. Below is a copy of this small file just made, and while it contains lots more html code than I know about, and don't want to learn about, it does hold the simple stuff I posted about. The only thing you "missing something here" is that I find it hard to organize my Bookmarks in similiar groups eventhought I know the bells & whistles exist in my browser to let me do it, I just have not figured it out and trying and getting frustrated & quite. Guess I'am trying to make my own using that Notepad avenue where I can move thing around and make extra comments to help describe what is what. This method of mine making a .TXT file renamed to .HTML allows me to open it up in Notepad to change and doc and move stuff around, but then make a copy with .HTML extension and open it via my browser and see it as only my comments and hot links. This way, once opened by my browser I treat it like any web page that I visited(opened) and minimize it or make it into a small icon that I can click it to appear full size and act upon it the same way as opening the browser's Bookmarks, except this one is "roll my own" and is displayed to my liking better than the browser way. Guess I can ask you this: How do you manage your many Bookmarks? Are they all in one place just listed in a long list, or do you organize them based on different areas of interest or work related topics? ok, enough here is the html code my Opera created, and its way over what I want to deal with ----------------------------------------- <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><title> Bookmarks </title><style type="text/css"> dl { margin-left: 2em; margin-top: 1em} dt { margin-left: 0; font-weight: bold} dd { margin-left: 0; } dl.first {margin-left: 0 } </style> </head> <body> <dl class=first> <dd><a href="http://boston.redsox.mlb.com">Boston Red Sox : The Official Site</a></dd> <dd><a href="http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com">New York Yankees : The Official Site</a></dd> </dl> </body> </html> ------------------------------ D:oug
