E and I have discussed before my political belief that the federal government should not legislate in areas such as pregnancy, abortion and homosexuality - nor should federal courts consider these issues on the basis of alleged "constitutional rights."

I think these are state issues.

So, for example, if the states all decided to legalize abortion, and I was a federal legislator, and was asked to vote to ban abortion, on principal I would rather not do that, because I don't think that federal legislators should be involved in the abortion issue. Similarly, as a federal legislator, I would not vote to make abortion legal.

But that's only theoretical. It would depend on the context.

Take, for example, sex toys, which have been outlawed in some Southern state, maybe Alabama? I would not have voted to outlaw sex toys, personally. But I agree with the Alabama federal judges who said, "there is no constitutional right to use sex toys," and threw out the case.

I do recognize that sex toys are not as serious an issue as rape and incest, but the point remains the same. Hard cases make bad law. I would stick to my principles.

Is that why you don't answer any of your own hypothetical questions...even when they are extremely simple?

You just made that up!

I've expressed myself very openly and clearly and very frequently on this subject.

In my view, anyone who favors, or would cast a vote that would result in my granddaughter or anyone else's granddaughter being forced by the state unwillingly to gestate a rapist's zygote or embryo to term is either confused or evil, and is without doubt cold, and cruel.

Simple question, except for those who don't want to answer it.
