US military strike on Fallujah
(Updated at 1050 PST)
BAGHDAD: A US air strike on the rebel-held city of Fallujah destroyed a suspected hideout of Iraq's most wanted insurgent Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi, the military said in a statement on Tuesday.

"At 4:02 am (0102 GMT) October 12, multi-national forces conducted another successful strike in Fallujah, against the Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi terrorist network. The precision strike destroyed a known terrorist safe house in north east Fallujah," the military said.

US forces have intensified their blistering air strikes on Fallujah since September as the military looks ahead to restoring law and order in Iraq by January elections.
