I went to the link for the site to update and it is the same one over again. The update site comes up but nothing happens. It just says it is checking for the latest updates but nothing happens.

Sorry. When I follow that link it sends me to the Service Pack 1 site. I get a bunch of choices for how to apply it.

This is deeper in:
microsoft.com
If you click o the go button on the right is should pop p a save run or cancel choice. If not, then go to tools/internet options - Securities – Trusted Zones: add Microsoft.com. you can delete it later.

Do you have a friend who would download and burn it to a CD?

Here is the order on CD site:
microsoft.com
