So either Intel suddenly lost hundreds of millions more dollars this quarter on stable sales of commodity networking gear or they sold gobs of flash at a loss in order to gain marketshare.

The only interesting thing is that Intel said flash UNITS were basically flat. However, if bits are up enough (i.e. the mix got significantly richer), then the implied (by flat units, increased revs) increased ASPs may not cover the increased costs.

But it is clear they did not ship gobs more flash in Q3.

Like I said earlier, elmerp is the only guy on the planet that thinks INTC made a profit in flash in q2 and q3...and to be sure, a rocket scientist he isn't!
