Because patriotism is about allegiance to one's country and what it stands for. That's COUNTRY. Not political party. Not politician. Not issue du jour. Not entitlement. If you bail on your country when it needs you because you disagree with the people's choice, you ain't no patriot, not as I understand the concept.

Over the last month or so I have been getting quite an eye opener about the meaning of patriotism from this thread. First we had people suggesting it's OK to not defend their country if that means using tactics about which they are squeamish. Now we have people who suggest it's OK to not defend their country if they don't have confidence in the CIC. Who knew?
