Karen,

Kerry's history is irrelevant to how we define patriotism

Absolutely.

However, to UW's point - if an invasion fleet appeared off our shore - even Kerry would see this as requiring action and even North Easterners would send their sons... Absent that, who wants to be the last soldier killed or left MIA by a Government more concerned with international politics than its own soldiers.

The non-traditional threat of terrorism cannot be met with a standard military disposition to only be used against other states. To trivialize 9/11 and those who threaten more as needing to be dealt with as criminal elements is silly.

Al-Qaeda is not a motorcycle gang.

What is relevant is whether we stand up or stand down when our country is threatened.

Most liberals don't even perceive what is happening as a real threat......more like an nuisance.
