Yes, oaths are very important, but your oath was to your country not a man.

America is a nation built on a foundation of laws and ideas. One of the men running for the office of the president has done much to harm the moral of our military. His words have harmed them in ways that don't elicit loyalty.

Our duty......all patriots.....is to their county.....we don't need any lessons on patriotism. I'm convinced that most eligible Americans won't take that oath because they don't respect that man, and there will be an exodus.

Kerry has gone beyond uniting our military specifically, and that is dangerous.

I took that same oath & served under three Administrations.
Speaking of, "Some of them really sucked", I did this during
all 8 years of the Clinton Admin, but not Monica <ggg>. My
job placed me in high crime areas. I spent thousands of hours
auditing &/or criminally investigating unsavory individuals
(who turned out to be criminals). I always gave my best
effort PERIOD.

Under no circumstance would I dare compare my personal
sacrifices or the risks I faced to those faced by anyone in
the military. Those oaths, those sacrifices & risks assumed
as a public servant pales by comparison against those who may
be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice for their
country.

Oh BTW, your attempt to change the parameters from those in
the military serving under an unfit CIC, to swearing an oath
to the Constitution, but not the President (and CIC) was so
Kerryesque in its revisionist nuance.

"You know, M, I took an oath of office. To defend the Constitution, it was, not the President. I served under every administration beginning with Johnson. Some of them really sucked. Each got my best effort, which was harder when they sucked. It's called duty. I have trouble with the notion of altering one's notion of duty to one's country over a change in administrtion."
