<<What does negative backlog mean?>>

Borrowers are so far upside down that they have to build a house to give to the original builder?<G>

Seriously, it sounds like they've built out all their existing orders and now have some homes available on spec.....

i could have written that better. i meant change in backlog in the higher growth areas was negative. of course i have actually experienced (in the mid-1980s) a negative backlog for one month, i.e., the dollar amount of order cancellations was greater than the dollar amount of new orders for that month.

(new order backlong minus year ago order backlog)/(year ago order backlog) times 100% = negative is what i meant.
