As to your first point, right, I'm sure Harkin was somehow in the loop. Or maybe he was just lying. He's a senator, after all; if he was moving his lips, he was probably at least shading the truth on most everything and lying on the rest.

Moving on, there are two points to your second point, one you seem to be ignoring:

1) Did Kerry get "messed around" on his discharge (by the Nixon White House)? If so, that would be to his credit.

2) Did Kerry get a dishonorable discharge or some other less than great discharge which is documented? If so, the truth might make a difference to many undecideds in battleground states. Those will decide the election. I'm not undecided and I'm not in a battleground state, so it won't matter to the election. Yes, it might affect my thinking but probably not my voting.
