I think I've seen all the Presidential debates from 1980 on, and Kerry last night was the best of them all.

Contra Kos, I think Kerry's providing lots of specifics played a couple of very key roles. First of all, it kept Bush on the defensive, having more facts coming at him than he could have a prayer of responding to. But any speaker knows that to sell your audience on an idea, you've got to be able to illustrate your broad themes with specifics. That had been Kerry's weak point in his acceptance speech, and to a certain extent in the first two debates. He filled that hole last night. He hit all the levels, and pulled it all together.

Like I said last night, I had the triumphal closing movement of Beethoven's Fifth going through my head as Kerry was giving his closing remarks. He was that good...>>

Bush is going to win this race. I have hopes of a landslide in fact.
