Try positive economic developments, such as new markets, finding new natural resources, tariffs, et al.


Are you saying that on its own, raising minimum wage is bad, but if you combine it with something strongly positive, the negative effect could be negated, and you can end up with a positive?

I could agree with that. <g> How about you do all the good stuff and none of the bad stuff. The result should be even better.

If people were desperate enough to work for a buck an hour here, you'd be for that?

Not working, not having a job if you want one is worse than working and having a job, no matter what the rate is. There are other ways to improve the lives of working poor, but it is a lot better to have working poor than non-working poor.
