Main line Christians (fundamentalists, Catholics, mainline protestant ) hold that EVERYONE sins all the time. The debate is, is homosexual behavior a sin? Most mainline Christians say yes. A vocal and powerful minority say no.

kerry statement lost him more votes than won. It will get more people to polls to make sure he doesn't get in. Same with Edwards using stem cell research and telling people they will walk again under Kerry program. It is just awful to play on people minds who are going through serious problems and give them false hopes for their vote.
