I think what a lot of people are ignoring re Mary Cheney is that Edwards made a similar remark in his debate, and to her father no less.

For Kerry to decide to include a similar comment in his final debate they must have had focus group or polls showing that Edwards remarks played well to Peoria.

Wingnuts can whine all they want, but imo the Kerry campaign included the remark with full knowledge of how it will play out.
