9/11 shows they are driven to strike in a public way, and while the Administration has bee 100% effective since that time - it only takes one attack to slip thru the net and cause massive distruption.

IMO a 9/11 was inevitable. Even if we had stopped AQ and even if AQ never existed, there will be an AQ equivalent somewhere down the road.

As they say, it is not a question of if, but of when. IMO it is not a question as to if our civilization will be able to weather these aberrations, anamolies, or whatever you want to call it, (I am sure we will), but the question is if we can not only survive but come of these situations stronger than before these things happen and make our civilization even better.
