It was more than curious to see a group of Democratic senators and party officials protest to the Federal Communications Commission this week the decision by Sinclair Broadcast Group to run "Stolen Honor," a documentary that spotlights Sen. John Kerry’s anti-war activities after he returned from Vietnam and includes interviews with POWs who say Kerry’s testimony before Congress prolonged their captivity. One Kerry adviser went so far as to say that Sinclair would regret airing the program "and they better hope we don’t win."

Bulletin to Democrats: under the First Amendment, Sinclair has every right to run the documentary. Even the argument of "equal time" for political programming is hardly applicable.

But it is the right of the newspaper or TV outlet to publish or broadcast any story it deems worthwhile and fit to run. And this right should be cherished by all citizens, no matter their partisan tilt.
