There are few people so homophobic that they will not vote for Bush because Cheney has a lesbian daughter. I cannot think of anyone that I know, off hand.

The mention of Cheney's daughter's sexuality, as tasteless as it was, is indicative of Kerry's campaign's incredible lack of political finesse, which were first put on exhibition at the Convention. You might recall that Kerry's controversial Vietnam experience was stupidly made its centerpiece. It was also shown when Edwards' ghoulishly remark made before C. Reeves's body ws cold that if Kerry were President, he would be able to walk.

If the mention of Cheney's daughter was designed to somehow get the evangelical vote, how can it be reconciled with Kerry's views on abortion? Perhaps there are 125 homophobic pro-choice evangelicals in the nation he was pandering to, and he felt their vote was so important that he believes the political damage due to such a stupid remark was worth the risk.

truth doesnt matter. Now add to bush woes $54 oil, stock market getting ready to go thru 9900, and 10 year treasuries getting ready to bust thru 4% which all indicate to me the market is betting on a recession these days based on the high price of oil. Its getting to the point where even if oil topped out, it may be too late to help bush. He needs that to happen now as well as some better news than this i just pulled off cnn website. "Bombers kill 5 in Baghdad's fortified Green Zone.

this election getting to look like:
1. Truman/Korea 1952 when truman bowed out because of korea mess and ike trounced adlai.
2. 1968 when johnson quit and nixon beat hhh.
3. 1980 which was a tie with 20 days to go and it wound up 58- 41 for reagan.

staying this close is a testament to bushes base and kerrys perceived inadequicies. But those kerry weaknesses i think have melted away to some extent during his audition as President for the next TV movie during the debates. I am sorry to be so negative. It certainly aint over and even after all my hand wringing most folks have it as a tie. mike
PS I remeber 1968 very well and anti-war folks within lbj party drove him from the ballot. The fact RFK was shot and McCarthy was a more ethereal Howard dean did not alter the fact that peace candidates within the party forced an incumbant out.
