That's why I made sure to add the phrase "a job market that offers higher quality work." How do you create one? You can't, other than by creating governmental policies that does it's best to foster a friendly business climate, then hoping for the best. Which brings up another question: If the Internet helped to create the prosperity of the 90's, what's going to create the next economic boom? The election of John Kerry?

I have many friends who came out of Ivy League schools with a choice of either bartending or going back to school.

Same here, and I'm from the Ivy League.

My dad was a pretty successful real estate agent, then the manager of a real estate referral company. His company closed down in '99, and he hasn't been able to get a good job since. He's now a trucker.

Why didn't he go back into real estate? Real estate has been one of the few good areas of the economy.
