Bush's Online-Futures Lead Narrows After Last Debate

Oct. 14 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's lead over Democratic challenger John Kerry narrowed in Internet futures trading following the third and final presidential debate.

Bush led the four-term Massachusetts senator by 9.5 percentage points on Intrade, a Dublin-based electronic wagering market, as of 5:20 p.m. New York time. Bush led by 16.4 points the day before last night's debate.

``The narrowing spreads are reflecting that Mr. Kerry won,'' said Joseph Quinlan, chief market strategist at Banc of America Capital Management in New York. ``He was forceful, he came across better than the president and, from a Republican standpoint, it is a good thing there are no more debates.''

Bush led Kerry by at least 30 percentage points on Intrade before the first debate on Sept. 30 in Coral Gables, Florida.
