I can certainly see the system that you are installing to be much simpler. You will certainly help the load on the overall system by doing the washing and drying during the day. At night you generate no power but you do not use much when you are sleeping.

What does your utility charge you for power now, and do they charge a higher rate during peak hours of use? What will the utility pay you for your power produced, does "net metering " "only" mean the meter runs forward when you are using power and backward when you are shifting it back to the utility?How long would this agreement be good for?<<gg>> I know that many utilities charge higher rates during peak hours and way less during the middle of the night...many newer appliances have a delay feature so you can take advantage of this and run them at 3 am for example(washing machines etc)...province of Quebec does this. The utility probably does not want "islanding" in power outages for safety reasons ...men out working on the poles...it seems to me that battery back up would be logical because that is when you need the power.I have mentioned VRB Power on this thread before...it could be of interest to you.
