When you look at how drastically they revised their Q1 estimates upward, you have to think that they expect the G5s to be freely available and selling well. IPods alone won't produce those kinds of numbers.

Agreed. Agreed. With the kind of increased revenue they are projecting, they could've easily hyped the backlog they have on any of their computers however, they haven't. Why? They never failed to do so with the iMac in the past. Instead both Apple and pro-Apple analysts have been prancing around the buzz words "halo effect". I don't see it and not Apple nor these analysts have any numbers to back up their halo-effect. I'll believe when I see it. Until then, hype won't alter the reality Apple hasn't gained additional computer buyers due to their pruchase of an iPod device. Even if only 10% of iPod/mini buyers were to buy an Apple computer, that would be 200k macs! I don't see those increased mac sales.

Allen,

Overall, it's a stellar report. The market seemed to like it a lot, especially when you consider that today was such a downer overall.

I certainly agree.

Yet the debate continues here. Is the market so stupid? I wonder. For some reference points:

YTD S&P 500 (excluding dividends) -1%

NASDAQ 100 -3%

AAPL +105%

There must be some reason for those disparities.
