I had the pleasure of touring the "Mighty Mo" in 1999.
I taped the whole tour with an awesome Naval soldier narrating our trip up and down six decks. I had a great gal with me on that trip.
The Missouri was longer than the Titantic, had wooden decks, and they had to widen the Suez canal to fit it through!
Their 16" guns could fire up to 23 miles with accuracy of up to 100 yards. The Naval gent mentioned that in Oahu, where the Mo. is rested now, they could fire a round and hit any part of the island. Guess America was pretty good even back then.
I walked on the wood that the Japs surrended on.
By the way Truman, that rascal made sure that the Naval seamen onboard the surrendering ceremony were mostly quite tall.
He thought that would intimidate the rather short Japanese attendees on board that day.
One last "fuck you" from Harry.
