Huh? It's not that Bush was an alcoholic as a not-so-young man (he was in his forties when he quit) but it's the comparison between what he was doing while Kerry (unfairly maligned) was fighting in Vietnam.

There's no comparison. Kerry came out of his experience, by all accounts, genuinely mortified by what the war was doing to both countries. Bush came out of his experience never understanding that he was privileged to be out of harm's way and never appreciating the sacrifice of others.
