It is not a, purely, gentic thing in an individual, since it can be passed down from parents. The elements make it an unnatural event. Alcoholism may have some genetic source, but any individual can circumvent the affects of the cause of alcoholism, and alcoholism, itself. To try to compare alcoholism, with demention, is like the worn out phrase of comparing apples to oranges.
