These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.

Thomas Paine, The Crisis, 1776

Those words ring true today. Keep your chin up. We are fighting for ourselves and our children. And we are also fighting to keep alive the dream called America.

The Bush supporters do not understand the idea of America or they would turn on Bush in a heartbeat. Someone that holds an American citizen for three years, without contact with lawyers or family, is a threat to all of us. Who will be next to disappear?

Someone who endangers our safety by invading a Country that was no threat, violates the spirit of America. Someone who imperils our economy for the sake of ideology, is not our friend.

We owe it to Paine ... and to Jefferson, Madison, Washington and the rest of America's founders to stand and fight for the America we believe in - the rule of law and civil liberties - America, the shining beacon on the hill, held up as an example to the World. Stay strong.

Just yesterday a man that was working on my house got into a discussion with me about politics and the Iraq war. He disagreed with me.

I told him that is was an awful shame that unsuspecting people had wrapped thier children in the flag and sent them off to die based on Bush's lies and false accusations. IT was a shame that some had to die in vain. Most had felt they were defending the country but in fact they had been duped by Bush and his cohorts.

Last night on the TV a local woman was interviewed who's son lost his life yesterday........she repeated exactly what I had said to him.

He came back today and said, " Pat, you were right about Bush and Iraq. I watched that woman on TV last night and couldn't help remember everything you said. "

We can win this, one vote at a time.
