<What, pray tell, do you, living in New Zealand, know about Republicans?>

Oh CB, not you too. One of those people who think understanding is limited by not being one of the things being discussed. A sheep farmer isn't a sheep, but they understand more about sheep than the sheep do. A geologist isn't a rock, but they do a better job understanding geological processes than your average feldspar.

Have you ever read a book, or any writing? Have you even looked at a picture on tv or on paper? Those things are abstract representations of reality at a distance. They are not the reality itself, so they are guidelines, but they are generally pretty good ways of developing understanding of situations.

In a courtroom, of which I believe you have some experience, people do nothing but sit around, or stand, bumping their gums together, yet they purport to develop sound understanding of actual events and people and so on who were removed in time and space. They accept that words spouting from lawyers [who were not at the scene of the crime] and others bear more than a passing relationship to what the actual 3D reality of a situation was or is.

I am far better able to comment about Republicans than Republicans or Americans simply by virtue of being a disinterested party. As you know, those involved, such as Republicans and Americans should recuse themselves from commenting due to their interested and therefore biased and prejudiced involvement.

<Can you name any real Republicans who are anti-gay for political reasons (qua Republican)?>

Political reasons, religious reasons, weird reasons? I'd say they are mostly weird reasons. But some would be political reasons = there are votes in bashing evil-doers and The Bible and the Bible Bashers know that sodomy is not kosher. Jerry Falwell?

Anti-gay means considering the characteristic as being a feature of a person rendering them unfit for various things and undesirable in many ways. Such as, being hired to fight Islamic Jihad.

<Do Republicans want gay people to vanish off the face of the earth? Do they want to crucify them? >

If there was a secret button they could push to painlessly do the job, I think there would be plenty of Republicans ready to do the deed. Crucifixion would probably not be a favoured means of disposal. I hasten to add, as I say, that some of my best friends are Republicans and Catholic and all those good things, and they of course would not be involved or interested in such button pushing.

Democrats are generally less likely to want to be button pushers.

So, there you have it!
