Very shocking poll on CNN showed only 40% said they would vote for a gay President. I was stunned as to how biased this country is against gay people.

You're shocked? Have you been living in a cave?

The thing that is difficult for most human beings is accepting change... And accepting that there are other people in the world who are different. It makes one afraid. How comfortable it is when we are all with those who are like us.

Aliens enjoy quite a success on this basis. Have you ever heard of a "friendly" alien... well maybe...

The gay marriage issue causes those who are in a heterosexual marriage FEAR.. Fear that their vows of sanctimony are diminished.. But when I look at Brittany Spears and some of the Hollywood marriages it is farcical . And when 50 % or more of marriages end in divorce I have difficulty with understanding why two people of any sexual proclivity who love each other and who want to bond are so feared.

On the other side, I don't particularly go with the term gay marriage... It is too patterned after the heterosexual term marriage. But as a fighter for Civil Liberties all my life I would go for the same RIGHTS for gay couples as heterosexual couples have: tax breaks, right of visitation in case of illness, not losing the survivors death benefits...For example half American does not know how gays are discriminated against when a partner dies. The estate goes back to the family and if it is left, half of it goes to the government. These are unjust laws..

Your post is very illuminating too as I did not know the figure about 40 %. Thanks
