Cheney only mention his daughter in a direct question , his was a response. That gives no right to edwards or kerry to talk about his family who are not running for any political party.. I find your humor sick.

Cheney can drag her out onto stage and Kerry isn't allowed to comment?

The answer is - correct, being on stage with your father does not make you eligible to be a target of your father's political opponents. Chelsea Clinton was on stage with her parents often BUT it would have been rude and obnoxious if Bob Dole or Dole's running mate (Jack Kemp) had made any public comments about her. Remember that when Saturday Night Live began ridiculing Chelsea, Hillary was correctly outraged and asked that they stop and focus only on her and Bill.

Family members are off limits. With candidates like Kerry and Edwards making an issue of a candidate's family member, I think we can all understand why so many well qualified people stay out of public service.
