There are many legitimate reasons for a military member not to have to report to a base or post or military unit. I don't know you from Adam, but in a few short paragraphs, you are able to tell me enough about yourself where I could conclude you were a soldier's soldier and that I could accept everything that you tell me wrt your military service without any question. In a few short paragraphs you were able to assure me of your whereabouts for 20 years of your life - and you are not even asking me to vote for you in any capacity. I can now understand how you could be assigned to a unit in one place only to be physically somewhere else all that time. I mean even if someone would swear up and down they saw you in that time frame sunning yourself and fishing - that would not cause any alarm - or lower my assessment, in any way, your integrity, honor, or sense of duty. When the military sent you to school, you were expected to do what students do - and my assessment would be that you held yourself to an even higher standard. You don't have to convince me. I am sold. OTOH our CIC has not been as open and as clear to his whereabouts and what he was supposed to have been doing during his 6 months while assigned to the Alabama National Guards. Maybe I missed it, but the explanations of GWB service during that period I have read on this thread are laughable. There were eyewitnesses that remembered our CIC (1) reading training manuals and 2) numerous second and third hand testimony where GWB was examined by some medical officer. That exam must have been witnessed by hundreds of people. I understand GWB does not have to explain anything and it may not have anything to do with this election, but I would think that a much clearer explanation is owed to history.
