If you believe every Gitmo detainee is a "terrorist", please let me know how this was determined by whoever made the distinction between Afghan terrorist, Afghan nationalist, Afghan farmer and non-Afghan hanging out in Afghanistan?

Why, on Earth, would you think you're entitled to "know" this?

This is a military matter. You have no "right" to that information.

Well, its reasonable for the military to at least provide the criterion for who was sent to Gitmo and who not. That's not any super secret info. At least were these guys firing guns at the US military when prior to capture? Who frickin' knows?

And I'm not talking about my "right" to know: rather, I'm more concerned with the basic human rights of the detainees.

As for just accepting zero explanation by the US military for holding people without legal representation or even an accusation of committing a crime......A year or two ago I would have just accepted that and believe the Bush adminstration is doing what's best for us. However the way things have turned out in the past two years, I'm less inclined to trust that the Bush adminstration is doing the right thing.

Simply put, I don't trust them, so I want to see the proof.
