Am I really reading what I think I'm reading? Men who don't fall into your stereotype of a gay male obviously chose to be gay?

Please tell me that's not true...

I've posted the entire story here years ago. I'll give you the overview, however.

When I was younger, I knew a group of guys who were clearly heterosexual. I knew these people well, and the heterosexuality of these people was clear; none exhibited ANY of the characteristics that YOU AND I easily recognize in men who were "born gay". At a subsequent date, a single, overtly homosexual individual entered the group. I watched as numerous previously heterosexual men became homosexual, one by one. It was, indisputably, a "learned" behavior within this group. Later, two of the individuals' brothers became homosexual. This, by virtue of association with a single overtly gay man.

Oh my God, its amazing what you believe. First, let me clear some things up for you. Some of the most macho stud actors in Hollywood are gay. Long ago, many of us realized that the stereotypical homo guy working as a hairdresser was not very apt. There are many gay guys who appear very straight......at times, overly masculine......who screw with women but who, at their core, are gay. And that goes for lesbians as well.........the bull dyke lesbian is a joke.

In LA, a couple of my friends and I were invited to a lesbian New Year Eve's party so long as we 'behaved' ourselves. There were maybe 35 women at this party.........they were some of the most beautiful women on the planet. Bodies to die for! I was completely blown away. Everyone of them was gay. They were called lipstick lesbians.

If this group of guys you hung with were 'converted' by the one you suspect as being gay, its because they were all gay in the first place. In fact, I bet they were laughing at you because of your ignorance of the situation.

Were some of these people "born gay"? I don't think so, but perhaps one was. Not ALL of them, however.

Scientists say they were.........so do psychologists.

That's my view based on this instance -- obviously, not a statistically significant finding. However, there NO SCIENCE to suggest that homosexuality is a genetically determined behavior.

They haven't found the gene yet but they will.

David, RE: "none exhibited ANY of the characteristics that YOU AND I easily recognize in men who were "born gay""

I don't think you can always tell a person's orientation. So I dispute this part.

RE: "At a subsequent date, a single, overtly homosexual individual entered the group. I watched as numerous previously heterosexual men became homosexual, one by one. It was, indisputably, a "learned" behavior within this group. Later, two of the individuals' brothers became homosexual. This, by virtue of association with a single overtly gay man."

This is interesting. But could it just be they all were gay but simply didn't know it? I won't discredit your story because it's a true experience you saw. I think the question is, were they gay beforehand but just didn't know it, or was it learned behavior in this particular situation?
