What can I say, we forgot to have children! We wanted careers, we wanted the choices our mothers never had. We got them. The ironic thing was to then have people tell us that we'd have been better off if we'd had our children earlier, like previous generations. When you have them early you don't have much earning power to lose by taking time off to have children. You can't win, any choice you make is going to be criticized by someone for being the wrong one.
