"Some are. Some aren't. "

But the ones that have the most trouble will generally tell you "I remember the first time I" drank alcohol, took whatever, gambled, smoked a cigarette "it was the best thing that ever happened to me". They usually have an abnormally low level of serotonin in their brains, and the drug/activity triggers a larger than normal release.

True, even people with out this predisposition can develop problems. But they are generally easier to cure.

Most people versed (or pickled) in alcoholism would tell you that the alcoholic is born that way. There are problem drinkers but quitting is a mental issue, and sometimes a short term physical issue. It is not the same as the alcoholic who can not take one drink without falling into the same trap. The problem drinker has different issues to face, but their body does react as an alcoholic to that first drink, that first drop, of alcohol. The differences are explained in the Big Book. Granted, a problem drinker who does not take steps to change can wreck just as much havoc.

>To assert that all homosexuals are born homosexual is an ignorant statement in the absence of scientific proof to support the assertion.

Why the heck would anyone want to be a homosexual? I might be able to put together a case for wanting to be bisexual, and in fact, I'd love to be bisexual... it'd be a different experience and would broaden my horizons -- but alas, I'm not attracted to men!

Your argument is like saying, "Alcoholics are BORN alcoholics".

They believe they have isolated the gene for alcoholism. So, in fact, alcoholics are born alcoholic.
