>>>Whatever happened to PartyTime? Who's running this thread?<<<

Hi folks!

Been far away from ComputerLand o'er much of last Spring, all of Summer and most of Autumn. But, like fall foilage, I've returned--for a bit anyway--lol!

Like last year, I moved into my RV camper when New England's weather warmed. Currently, I'm house-sitting for friends and, thus, temporarily on a computer. Thought I'd check in.

When my friends return, I'll either climb back into the camper in the temptation to take it south for a long-overdue ignoring of a cold New England's winter--however, not until the Red Sox become baseball's World Series Champions (anyone need tickets--lol?); or I'll rent another beach house. If I do the latter you'll see me online daily; however, should I head south I'll probably miss a full winter of SI communing.

As to whose in charge of this thread? You all are!

Sorry I've not been around to keep track of daily events and thread header updates. The topic of thread, however, remains self-explanatory.

Onto subject.

I find it amazing not much has changed during my absence on this board. The Bush-Cheney Administration continues as the worst America has ever experienced, certainly in modern history; and too large of a segment of our population continues believing that Bush is a leader instead of one who is being led. It was this way when I left the thread and it remains this way today!

And it seems this same element of the population doesn't even notice that America's television advertising has become more violent, more pharmaceutical and certainly more intrusive than ever before. Perhaps they don't really much care since the same dumb shows keep airing over and over. Is it true freedom simply to set back and watch the freedom of someone else's reality, instead of enjoying one's own? Ah, but that's another topic--lol!

More to point, the increasingly saddening debacle of the Bush-Cheney Iraq War has proven nearly all of my predictions, and many predications from others on this thread--as well as many from those who participated on SI's DON'T START THE WAR and Stop the War threads--have become predictions come true.

There are dire and extremely tragic consequences to what Bush and Cheney have done. Not only are way too many innocent people dying has a result of this ill-begotten war, but these top GOPwingers, unwittingly, have managed to sow seeds for a terrorist breeding ground in Iraq (see recent reporting on the subject). What's truly tragic is that these terrorists, or their new traineees, will eventually want to perform deadly works beyond Iraq's borders. Yes, more innocent people will be dying!

Don't you think something's strongly amiss with the leadership of our nation when I--mere PartyTime, rank and file, apple-pie and ordinary but reasonably well-read American citizen--was able to predict, well in advance of the war, that there'd be found no Iraqi stockpiles of WMD, no Al Qaeda connection, no happy Iraqi greeting of American liberators and no democracy to be had in Iraq? Yet Bush, Card, Rove, Ailes, Cheney, Libby, Tenet, Rumsfeld, Feith, Franks, Pearle and, yes, the American media, et. al., (Coulter and O'Reilly included), most of whom had access to the world's best available intelligence gathering capability, couldn't predict what I did?

Heck, all I did was read international--not just American--media! It's so sad that important intelligence information got suppressed, because people are today dying and being wounded in very large numbers. Very sad!

As a sidebar, everything I observed from News Corp (read Fox) I viewed with suspicion!

Overall, what's happening today is a direct consequence of the Administration stovepiping its intelligence and twisting its meaning for direct political purpose, all in the intent of shaping an image of George W. Bush as a "wartime" president, pre-set for reelection before a genuinely-concerned citizenry. Indeed, the GOPwinger thinking was Bush would win reelection in a landslide, "mission accomplished!"

Does anyone seriously think that Paul O'Neill ...

cbsnews.com

... and Richard Clarke ...

abc.net.au

... were joking?

Clearly, the aircraft photo op scenario was where the folks pulling Bush's puppetier strings thought the nation's mindset would be, come time for Bush and Cheney to stand for reelection. Man, were they wrong! So very, very wrong!!!

Fortunately, America's media has more and more begun to realize it got had by the Bush cabral, and reporting is getting better if not more accurate. Some major news entities have even admitted the mistake of believing too strongly in what the Bush-Cheney Administration was feeding as news.

I guess it's reasonable to assume that Bush can't admit his mistakes because what he's done has been intentional. As GOPwinger-in-chief he's fooled way too many! For the good of people everywhere, let's all hope that Kerry wins!!!!!

Imagine what a second Bush-Cheney term would be like for America's courts. This Administration dispatched too many of America's family into an unnecessary, very bloody and extremely costly-for-America war; and, indeed, a president has no greater responsibility than to know exactly why, precisely when and specifically how to take our country into war. Perhaps the second greatest responsibility of the president is the appointment of judges, as it's those judges who ultimately will defend and ultimately interpret the Constitution of the United States.

Anyone think Bush would appoint anyone but 'yes-men' to the federal and supreme bench? Remember, it's precisely these kind of 'yes-men' types who served to bring the war in Iraq into our churches (funerals), hospitals (casualties) and living rooms (viewing death and destruction on tv)! What kind of intelligence gathering would Bush judicial appointees use once firmly on the federal and supreme bench?

As many of you know, I could go on and on. Hopefully, I'll be back soon. But, for now, I've gotta go. Forgive me if I can't directly answer any responses as my time is limited these days.

Fare ye all well!
