Actually, it looks like Gallup did a pretty good job last time. They had Bush with a two point lead at the end. The undecided voters, who normally end up trending toward the challenger, went for Gore last time. Bush was badly hurt in 2000 by the "October surprise", the last minute disclosure of his DUI conviction. I wonder what surprise the Democrats will come up with this year.

I expect the Bush totals to trail the final poll numbers by about two points. He needs to be up by at least three points at the end.
