Like Affymetrix, a Biotech analogue, SanDisk is a good company, with a good product, good positioning, a bright future, and a volatile stock. While AFFX has a unique and well protected product, SNDK is king of what many consider to be a commodity, rather than owner and driver of the technology; both are here to stay.

Portable storage media, that does not require moving parts is the final iteration (tape, disk, zip, cd, dvd...) of a long evolution. It could be that we will all realize the utility of a ubiquitous network, and forget all about storage media, but certainly not in my timeframe of interest(<5 years). Yes, GM’s are shrinking faster than predicted, but the company is blasting-off with income and revenue records. So cheer up, they will survive the shakeout, and at a bargain price.

On the other hand, if we compare SanDisk to Iomega, then, well… No, please arghhhh….

Agree with you on Eli, don't know what up with him...

If you just look at the financial, he has done quite well.
He needs to learn from Mr. Warren Buffett; every year, he says to the shareholders, "we were lucky past years, don't expect the same this year."

I think it's much better to be on conservative side then beat 'em every time... rather than get beat by your own exuberant forecasting...
