Hi John,
The VA Freeze is not system wide.
New and very elaborate VA Medical Centers are being built right now. They are being being fully staffed.

I don't know anything about staff pay raises... I do know my personal VA Veteran's disability benefit will be increased for the 22nd consecutive year on January 1.

The senior advisor to the Secretary of the Veterans' Administration is a former SFer and a good friend of mine. Would you like for me to ask him any questions?

The 3 VA hospitals within 1 1/2 hrs of me are all being upgraded and I've heard of no staffing problems. The two clinics even closer are fully staffed with the exception of 1 doctor who is being replaced. One hospital has been going through an unbelierveable upgrade. One of the clinics is only a few years old. Never a problem scheduling any service and my primary doc will see me in less than 2 weeks if an appt is requested-- sooner if requested. My %age has gone up twice - in the past 18 months and every year since 1968 I've recd a cost of living adj in January. Many doctors are fleeing private practice and would love a secure VA position.
