Russia's Putin Says a Vote for Kerry is a Vote for Terror.

Five Iraqis killed in Mosul blast as Putin says attacks aim to prevent Bush's re-election.

--A car bomb exploded Monday in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, killing five Iraqis and wounding 15 others, the U.S. military said.

The announcement added that the blast occurred at about 10:30 a.m. (local time) on the western side of a bridge that links the al-Matlan and al-Shefa districts and the Mosul amusement park.

The explosion took place shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "terrorists" wish to derail President Bush's chances at re-election through their attacks in Iraq. “The attacks of international terrorists in Iraq are aimed against George Bush personally,” he said, according to ITAR-TASS.

“International terrorists set the goal to inflict maximal damage to Bush, to prevent his election to the second term.”

“All know well that Russia was against the military action in Iraq. At present, our views with Bush differ significantly. All I can say is an opinion of a man from a different camp,” Putin said at a news conference in Dushanbe on Monday.

“But if international terrorists succeed and Bush wouldn't be re-elected for the second term, this means that they will celebrate a victory over both America and the international coalition forces, considering the role that America plays,” the president said, adding that “motives of voting, of course, will go far beyond the boundaries of the Iraqi problem”.
