Sadly, it will be the number of American deaths that will change minds and moods. Now that the people we went to liberate are now our new enemy, no one will care about them or how many of "them" die. It's just a score card.

The supporters of this crowd will keep following Bush until it is clear that the American middle class is his real target in the never-ending war. When that belief can be assimilated, there will be hope for the future.

The true sadness about the belief in the ideologues of the Bush camp is that even after a Kerry victory, they will not want to change. They will consider the Kerry win as an aberration to get through until they can continue their march.

I think a lot of us just want Kerry to win and then we get back to having things get better as we ignore politics and go about our lives, but it will never happen that way. With Kerry in the White House, we will all have to work twice as hard to make sure the will of the people will triumph over the force of the corporation. This will be our perpetual battle, and we must fight it, or our rights and our liberty will cease.

X, as Coz said below, I think the great majority here in the US are only concerned with US deaths and casualties. This is very sad, especially since we are now told that we HAD to go in, partly for humanitarian reasons in Iraq. Hard to justify that as we kill thousands there.

Anyone else notice how quickly everyone opposing Bush and the US are now labeled "the enemy" or "insurgents"???

I guess our Founding Fathers were very early "insurgents" - that fought to kick the rightful British out of their own territory.

Are we now the Redcoats???
