Slacks - We need to see flahs memory digital video cameras out there. That is waht will make the difference. Video eats more than MP3 and everyone loves it.

tape transport is a big part of teh cost of a digital video camera and if the camera makers don't put one out then Sandisk should put out their own with a built in mobile phone.

They have the clout to do this now and the bits and pieces of cameras have become commoditized.

Best,

L

China market: MP3 mobile phones in potential demand

digitimes.com

Szu-ying Pan; Adam Hwang, DigiTimes.com [Thursday 21 October 2004]

According to sample surveys conducted by China-based CCID Consulting, 12.3% of China’s mobile-phone users have handsets equipped with built-in MP3 players, and another 14.8% own mobile phones with built-in MP3 players and radio receivers.

Of the consumers without MP3-equipped mobile phones, 72.3% are willing to buy such products. However, only 20% of the potential buyers prefer local brands.

CCID's Taiwan agent, Information Communication Technology (ICT), indicated there is significant market potential for MP3-equipped mobile phones in China. However, China-based makers lag far behind international brands in technology and product quality, and they need to make an effort to overcome that.
