I have not observed a pattern of distortion greater than what is usual for campaigns, nor worse than the distortions of the Kerry camp, by any means. I am never happy when things are served up that are exaggerated or may mislead, whichever camp indulges in it. But Kerry is, in my opinion, more untruthful. Bush has increased aid to education, "underfunding" is a partisan way of describing not spending even more; Bush has made a big stride in funding senior prescriptions, and was supported by the AARP, while Kerry makes out that he has done nothing to improve medical care; Kerry has bashed Bush on stem cells, when the truth is, existing lines are not yet exhausted. Kerry is making it sound as if our alliances are torn asunder, when NATO is fully participating in Afghanistan, and we are working with countries like France on issues like the Sudan. Edwards bashed Cheney's connection with Halliburton, when he is merely getting deferred compensation, most of which had already come to him before becoming vice- president, and when he has an insurance policy which covers the rest in the case of financial default by Halliburton, so that his fortune does not depend in any manner of its profits. Despite repeated denials, Kerry is retailing the rumor that Bush will revive the draft. It just goes on and on..........
