I'm afraid that I see much of what is happening as a sort of "madness of the crowds" -- sort of like the stock-market madness, but in a new direction -- the War on Terror -- War of the Worlds -- us against them... just put whatever name you like to it and it will probably fit.

Meanwhile, up here, many of us are sitting here feeling rather creeped out... sort of like we've just discovered that the next door neighbours aren't exactly the people we thought they were. Nope. Turns out that they have a couple of pitbulls caged in the basement, a Monster Bigfoot truck in the garage, a few assault weapons up in the attic (wink-wink), and that they spend their evenings split between watching All-star wrestling, Fear Factor, and reruns of Rambo movies.

Oh well, takes all kinds to make the world blow up. (-:

Oh, I forgot to add....

You find out about the neighbours and say, "Let's put the house for sale and move somewhere else." But then you realize that you can't actually move... you'd have to cut your property loose with a big chainsaw, then paddle away to somewhere else. Sure would be a lot easier if we were talking houseboats and not real estate.

The MILITARY is supporting Bush.

It's not so hard to understand. I've worked for companies and been wrapped up and involved in their products, the best products around, and then gone to work for their competitors and come to realize that those are the best. I can imagine the the effect would be even more pronounced if my coworkers and I were being shot at. You concentrate on the job at hand.

Evangelicals and Born-Again make up a significant chunk of the military. The Bush cabal has successfully rounded up many of these people. The Bush appeal to the Evangelicals is really just politics. Jimmy Carter was an evangelical too. BIG DIFFERENCE in men.
Here's another odd comparison: Bush says he is a Methodist. John Edwards is a Methodist. Look at the difference between them.

It's the PERSON that makes the difference. Another good reason for separation of church and state.

I consider Bush either a legitimate born-again Christian who is too stupid to be President, or he is bogus and just using religion to get votes. Either way, all one has to do is look at his actions to see the real person.

Re: The MILITARY is supporting Bush. This is the part that I don't understand.

The US's got an "excess supply" of Timothy McVeighs... where do you want them to mess about --at home or abroad?
