Hi KLP, as I type this the wife and I are in a little internet cafe in Alghero, Sardinia. Lovely town to visit this time of year. We took a few days to get away alone.

To answer your questions, I would have to say most Europeans have a feel for the comings and goings of American politics, mainly, because their news on the radio and television highlight the major events, such as the DOW, Nasdaq and such.

Most Europeans, I believe, do have a feel of the large diversity in America, most have visited family or gone on vacations to the major cities. They also watch many of our popular television programs. In the U.S. we rarely watch a television program which is not spoken in English, here the lips rarely match the words coming from the actors mouth.

We underestimate the cultural impact of movies, music, television, and the internet. Some of the anti Americanism in places like France reflect this concern.

I just mailed our absentee ballots today!

Have a great day,

Mike
