It was a massive screw up on the part of the Security Council.

There is no international law against being a despotic dictator.


What exactly is "international law" anyway? I don't think the US accepts that concept, or at least not the idea of punishment and enforcement of US citizens for breaking "international law".

Regardless of the international law aspect, I still consider the UN's failure to support the removal of Saddam to be a massive failure on the part of the UN. You can't bitch about Saddam's behavior for 12 years, and then when the USA goes "OK, lets get him", reply "No, lets give him 6 more months." That's just stupid, in my opinion.
