The GOP has not made liberal a dirty word. The democrat party has made it a dirty word. If you recall under your definition of liberal, I am one too. The problem is that liberal is the facade, the Democrat party supports government taking private property.

How so?

You and other GOPers keep saying that but the survey I saw showed him ranking mostly in the 80s with an occasional foray into the 90s.........100 being the most liberal.

Even if Kerry is only 89th or 95th most liberal Senator, that is a vast swath away from moderate. In those polls how often, does Kerry rate less liberal than the liberal icon Ted Kennedy?

Most of them.

George W. Bush positions himself as a moderate because that is what he is.

I don't see anything moderate about GW Bush. His father was a moderate. The Ripon Republicans of MN and WI are moderates. GW is not moderate.

Most of the Republican base is much more conservative than President Bush.

I don't think so. Maybe the ones in TX and the rest of the South but not ones on the West coast or in the Upper Midwest. Some friends are from Montana.......they can't relate to Bush at all and they both voted for him in 2000. They're voting for Kerry this go around. As for me, I didn't trust Bush the moment I first time I heard him speak.

Kerry and Bush are alike in that regard. Most of the Democrat base is more conservative than Kerry. Republicans' fear of Kerry will move those whose dislike for Bush's big government appeasement will get them to the polls.

I don't see it.

Al Gore by all accounts is as Socialist as Hillary Clinton at the core. He ran in 2000 as a moderate candidate.

Neither of which are terribly socialist. Too many people misuse these terms.......liberal, socialism, communism etc.

My understanding of Socialist is that they support government taking over the private sector.

There are varying degrees of socialism. Pure socialism exists no where in the world. H. Clinton and Al Gore are capitalists that believe in some programs that can be called socialistic.

And the btw, socialism is not so horrible......particularly when its integrated with a capitalist economy.

Have you heard of Hillary Care? It would have made accepting payment for medical services from anyone other than the federal government illegal and a felony. Reports have been floated that Gore and Hillary are quite simpatico on their vision of Socialism in America.

We need a national health care program. Too many people are not getting the health care they need to live comfortable lives. Its coming.....its just a matter of time.

The one piece of Hillary care that was passed is responsible for the current shortages of all vaccines, including the flu vaccine.

Not true.

Do you wonder what October Surprise the Clinton's have up their sleeve to lose it for Kerry? How many people do you know that have had over 50 associates die in suspicious manors? The Clintons fit that description.

Sorry, Peter, you are getting weird. The only dangerous people in this country at the present time are the Bushes. Hopefully, that will end in November.
