4 adult, who were all minor, very minor, child, infant, baby, and before that, foetal. 1 male 3 female. Now aged 28 down to 20. <Do you have adult children? minor children? >

I wouldn't punch somebody or even feel upset over comments such as John Kerry made.

If I thought somebody was being rude, I'd point it out to them and ask them if they thought their comments were something to be proud of, or whether they didn't think they should apologize for being perhaps unwittingly ill-mannered.

I've experienced many emotional dramas over the decades, from expected death of one of them [who fortunately survived Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, so far] to witnessing absurd choices on lifestyle options. On the Richter scale of upset, Kerry's comments wouldn't rate a 1. If anything, I'd be rather pleased that he recognized the importance of my daughter and wasted his time talking about her.

I'm a strong believer in freedom and put my offspring where my mouth is [or, more accurately, leave them to choose their level of independence]. They have appreciated that freedom and responsibility and accountability. We have always had very, very flattering comments about them, which of course result from my good child-rearing talents, and anything untoward, my wife now sees the error of her ways. [She doesn't necessarily agree with that idea].

I think I get it.
